# How to Effectively Use the Skills Referential

The Skills Referential: Coming Soon!

The **skills framework** allows you to structure your training programs by clearly defining the **expected competencies, typical learner profiles (personas), and the level-specific skills required**.

It is a key tool to ensure pedagogical consistency and to guide the AI in generating relevant training content.

### **What Is a Skill?**

A skill describes what a learner should be able to do by the end of the training, within a specific context.

A well-written skill follows a clear structure:

- Be able to
- \[Action verb\]
- \[Object describing the action\]
- \[Context and possible beneficiaries\]

**Examples:**

- Be able to **negotiate institutional partnerships** to develop financial resources.
- Be able to **lead a plant production workshop** that meets quantity and quality goals, while minimizing environmental impact.

> The goal is to move beyond vague terms like *"know," "understand,"* or *"be familiar with"*, and instead favor **action verbs** that reflect **concrete learner outcomes**.

### **What Is a Persona?**

A persona is a learner profile that represents a category of learners with shared characteristics: role, level of experience, and learning context.

**Examples:**

- Student – Marketing
- Manager in career transition
- Entry-level technician

Personas help you **personalize training paths** by linking **expected competencies** to the specific needs of each profile.

### **What Are Persona Levels?**

Levels indicate the expected **degree of skill mastery** for each learner profile. These levels can be customized to match your framework:

- Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
- Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
- L1, L2, L3, M1, M2

They help build **progressive and tailored learning paths** for each audience.

## **Your Skills Referential Area**

**To access it:**
Click on your **avatar** (top right of your workspace), then select the **“Skills Framework”** tab.

The Framework Area Has Two Tabs:

- Referential– to structure categories and skills
- Personas – to define learner profiles and their skill levels

### **The "Referential" Tab**

In this tab:

- Click **\+ New Category** to create a group of skills
- Add individual skills, and/or create **subcategories** for more granular organization

When creating a skill, it is **strongly recommended** to provide a **detailed description**. This allows the AI to generate content that is **aligned with your learning objectives**.

### **The "Personas" Tab**

In this tab:

- Create **learner personas**
- Customize the **names of levels** (e.g., Beginner, Confirmed, Expert)
- Associate **skills** with each persona and their **corresponding level**

### **The Settings Tab**

In the Settings tab, you can:

- Define the level of your learners, which will be used for your personas within your organization.
- Import your skills framework to automatically structure your internal reference system.

To do so, download the provided template, fill it out based on your needs, and upload it to the platform.
edtake will then analyze the file and automatically link the skills to your reference framework.

### **Using Skills and Personas in Course Design**

When setting up your training project, you will be able to select:

A **skill** or **group of skills** from a dropdown menu.
→ If a skill doesn’t exist yet, it will be automatically added under **"Uncategorized"** (you can reassign it later).

One or more **personas**.
→ If a selected skill is already linked to a persona, it will be added automatically.
→ If a persona does not exist yet, it will be **automatically created**.
