# The library of our Authoring Tool

The block editor allows you to design interactive and engaging training courses by structuring your content with precision and creativity. Below is a detailed guide to the available options to help you make the most of this powerful tool.

### **Adding Text**

The editor offers a wide range of text blocks to meet your pedagogical needs:

**Titles**: Ideal for announcing major sections and structuring your content.

**Paragraphs**:

-   **AI-Generated Content**: Simply specify a topic, and the editor will create a relevant paragraph for you.
-   **Manual Input**: Perfect for full control over your content.

**Quotes**:

-   Associate your quotes with an image or avatar to enhance their visual impact.
-   Use them to inspire, summarize, or add a personal touch.

**Code**:

-   Write code in various programming languages (Python, HTML, JavaScript, etc.).
-   Choose a theme to enhance readability.

**Equations**:

-   Use Latex notation to draft and display complex mathematical formulas.

### **Formatting your text**

When editing text, several formatting options are available:

-   **Heading styles**: adjust the text size to structure your content.
-   **Bulleted lists**: organize your ideas clearly.
-   **Hyperlink** (available when text is selected)
-   **Tables**: adding tables is possible in *Paragraph* or *Image and text* blocks (default 3 rows × 3 columns). To display layout options (add or remove columns, merge cells, etc.), select a cell in the table.

-   **Mathematical formulas**: easily insert equations.
-   **Text formatting**: apply font color, background color, or use **bold**, *italic*, or underline styles.

### **Adding Lists**

Lists are ideal for organizing your information clearly and concisely:

-   **Accordion**: Present information as a glossary or FAQ, with each item expandable or collapsible.
-   **Bullet Points**: Simplify the presentation of key ideas or steps.
-   **Numbered Lists**: Organize content in a sequential manner.
-   **Timeline:** Present a step-by-step evolution to give context and organize events in chronological order.

-   **Statistics**: This block allows you to highlight key figures directly within your sequence content. The block is displayed on the learner's side as **coloured cards**, each card presenting the value and its description below — ideal for illustrating striking data or key results in a visual and impactful way.

### **Adding Images**

Visuals enrich your modules and capture learners’ attention:

-   **Centered Image**: Highlight an image in a classic format.
-   **Full Width**: Use an immersive image to illustrate a key concept.
-   **Image and Text**: Associate an explanatory image with a descriptive text. This block can be generated using AI: simply explain the topic you want to cover in the paragraph, and the AI will automatically select a relevant image via one of our content providers.
-   **Two-Column Image**: Perfect for comparing or juxtaposing visuals.
-   **Image Carousel**: Allow learners to scroll through multiple images in a compact space.

### Image import options 

Visuals enrich your modules and capture learners' attention. When adding an image to a block, several sources are available:

-   **From your computer**: import an image file directly from your local files.
-   **From the clipboard**: paste a previously copied image.
-   **From a URL**: embed an online image via its direct link.
-   **From the library**: access media already imported into your resource.
-   **Generate via AI**: let the AI generate an illustration adapted to your content.
-   **Napkin**: generate an explanatory infographic directly from edtake, with no Napkin account required. Napkin transforms textual content into a structured visual with text (diagram, timeline, flowchart…). To generate your infographic, fill in:
    -   The **content to illustrate**: describe what you want to represent visually.
    -   The **context** (optional): specify for example the target audience to refine the output.
    -   The **type of visual**: sequence diagram, timeline…
    -   The **language**, **orientation** and **colour mode** of the visual.
    -   The **graphic style** from the available options.
-   **Unsplash / Pexels**: access royalty-free photo libraries to illustrate your content.

#### **Image settings**

You can apply masks to your images for a customized look.

#### Image Formats

On edtake, the square image format (1:1) is used for displaying visuals in flashcards, as well as for module and sequence thumbnails.

**Key points to remember:**

Any square image (e.g., 500x500 px, 800x800 px…) is fully compatible with edtake.

You can upload your own custom visuals as long as they follow this format.

**What if your image isn’t square?**  
No worries!  
If you upload a rectangular image (landscape or portrait), a neutral background will automatically be added to fill the space and maintain the visual balance of the square layout.

> For the best visual result and to avoid background filling, we recommend preparing your images in a square format before uploading.

### **Adding Multimedia Elements**

Add interactivity and richness to your training courses with:

-   **Embed Links**: Integrate external content such as Google Slides presentations, YouTube videos, Genially links, Spotify podcasts, or Canva creations, for example. You can also use our partner Inokufu to explore the available content library and seamlessly add resources to your training.

-   **External Link**: Create a button that redirects the learner to any URL of your choice — perfect for linking to complementary materials or external platforms.
-   **Videos**: Embed videos directly from your computer. Any imported video is automatically added to your resource library, in the **"Media"** tab. You can also **generate a video with an AI avatar** by clicking **"Generate"** next to the add button *(available from the Engage plan)*:

1.  Write or paste your script in the dedicated area. If you have chosen the **Best in class World** agent providers, you can also rely on the **scriptwriting agent**, accessible from the creation window via the discussion space on the right side of the screen. It helps you write, rephrase or adjust your script according to the desired tone. You can iterate freely with it — the agent draws on your module's source documents and is also able to search for information on the internet to enrich and refine your script. 💡 Example: *"Write a script for a presentation video for a technology company, with a warm and inspiring tone."*
2.  **Choose your avatar** from the available models.
3.  Click **"Generate"** to launch the creation. The generation runs **in the background** — you can continue working in the meantime. The video is then automatically inserted into your sequence and added to the **"Media"** tab.

-   **Audios**: Import audio files from your computer to add a sound dimension to your content. Any imported audio is automatically added to your resource library, in the **"Media"** tab. You can also **generate an AI audio** by clicking **"Generate"** next to the add button *(available from the Engage plan)*:

1.  Write or paste your script in the dedicated area. If you have chosen the **Best in class World** agent providers, you can also rely on the **scriptwriting agent** to design or refine your script before launching the generation.
2.  **Choose one or several speakers** to create a dynamic format, podcast-style.
3.  Click **"Generate"** to launch the creation. The generation runs **in the background** — you can continue working in the meantime. The audio is then automatically inserted into your sequence and added to the **"Media"** tab.

-   **iFrame Blocks:** The iFrame block allows you to directly embed external content (such as a web page, an H5P resource, a presentation, or an interactive application) within your sequence, in order to display and use it without leaving your resource.
-   **SVG Animation:** The SVG Animation block allows you to embed animated visuals directly into your sequences, to illustrate concepts in a dynamic and engaging way. The block opens with two tabs:
    -   **Code:** paste your SVG code directly into the editor, or import an SVG file from your computer using the "Import an SVG file" button.
    -   **Preview:** visualize how your animation renders before saving.

⚠️ For security reasons, JavaScript scripts and external resources are automatically removed upon display. Your animation must be entirely self-contained within the SVG file.

### **Adding Interactivity**

-   **Image Flashcards**: Ideal for presenting concepts in a fun and interactive memorisation format. You can modify the formatting elements of your flashcards: **bold**, *italic*, underline, text colour, background colour, as well as title styles and the addition of bullet point lists.

-   **Image comparison**: allows learners to compare two visuals side by side and easily spot the differences.

-   **Scratch card**: Progressively reveal answers or information by scratching a zone. You can also choose what the learner will have to scratch: **text** or an **image**. It is also possible to customise the **text colour** and **background colour** of the card to integrate it harmoniously into your content.

**Hotspot**: Interactive hotspots on an image that, when clicked, display additional information or responses.

-   **Classify the elements:** This block enables a **drag-and-drop** interaction. On the learner's side, the elements (images or text) are displayed as **sticky notes** to be dragged and dropped into the corresponding categories. It is a particularly effective format for working on classification, distinguishing between concepts or associating ideas.

### **Creating Diverse Quizzes**

Test learners’ knowledge and understanding with a variety of quizzes that are constantly evolving:

-   **Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)**
-   **Single Choice Questions (SCQ)**
-   **True/False**
-   **Image Choices**: Allow learners to select a visual answer.
-   **Image-Based Questions**: Pair a question with an image for context.
-   **Fill-in-the-Blanks**: Assess understanding by asking learners to complete sentences.
-   **Sortable Lists**: Arrange elements in a logical order.

All these quizzes can be automatically generated or manually written for complete control.

### **Animations**

On the blocks side, bring rhythm to your module by animating content blocks — capture your learners’ attention by making your content more interactive and engaging. To access this feature, click on the toolbar, then select the **"Animations"** button to choose the most suitable animation for your block.

For titles, you can also add animation. Simply click on the pencil icon to edit the title, then open the **Animations** menu to pick the one that best fits your block.

### **Adding Separators**

Separators help structure your blocks and clearly delineate the various sections of your module. Choose from several styles to maintain visual consistency while keeping your content well-spaced.
